Emilie Wissing Simpson, 83 passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer. A private family graveside service will be held Saturday, July 3, 2021. Following the interment, a Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am for friends and family at Saint Stephen Lutheran Church, 8400 Kingston Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating will be Reverend Joel Hicks of Saint Stephen Lutheran Church.
Emilie was a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a graduate of Fair Park High School. She attended Texas Lutheran College, Louisiana Tech University, and later in life, she attended Northwestern School of Nursing and received her Associate degree as a Registered Nurse. Emilie worked as an RN at Schumpert Medical Center for 18 years. She was an active member of Saint Stephen Lutheran Church, WELCA, BAFTA, and the Red River Quilters.
Emilie was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Peter Wissing Sr.; mother, Ellen Kasch Wissing; and brother, Raymond Peter Wissing, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Katherine (Kelly) Simpson, Karen Brewer and husband Patrick, Joseph Simpson and wife Dena, and Jonathan Simpson and wife, Sandra; grandchildren, Austin and Emilie Brewer, and Kasch and Kaysie Jo Simpson; sister, Mary Ellen Haynes, and husband, Billy of Delaware; nieces and nephews, Scott Haynes, Lisa Caiazzo, Leslie Bury, Raymond Wissing and Carolyn Wissing; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was recently gifted with the birth of a great-grandson, Westin Cole Simpson, son of Kasch and Lindsey Simpson.
Serving as pallbearers will be her family and friends.
