Evelyn Fallin Boatner

1928 ~ 2021 (age 92)


Evelyn Fallin Boatner went to be with her Lord on June 17, 2021, during her 92nd year. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home, 3631 Southern Avenue in Shreveport on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Forest Park Cemetery located at 3700 Saint Vincent Avenue in Shreveport.
Born in Arcadia, La. on August 3, 1928, Evelyn was the daughter of Benager Alvin and Mattie Ruby Fallin. She married her childhood sweetheart, Prentis Lee Boatner, and made a career out of homemaking, sharing the responsibility of raising their five children. Evelyn was a wonderful cook and loved to have her family gather at their home to celebrate holidays and birthdays. A longtime member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, she had a passion for missions, serving as the director of the Women’s Missionary Union and as a member of the Louisiana Baptist Convention’s executive board. She also had a passion for teaching and served as a Literacy Program teacher and Bible Study Fellowship leader for many years. Evelyn loved to play bridge with her friends and enjoyed challenging the computer to a game on occasion.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Curtis, Wilbur and Bobby Fallin, her sister Annie Fallin Camp, and her husband, Prentis Lee Boatner. Evelyn is survived by her children, Cheryl Petty (Perry), Lee Boatner, Jan Purifoy, Nan Fuller (Kim), and Eric Boatner (Julie); nine grandchildren, Ben Petty (Toni), Tammy Rhyne (Kevin), Darla Perry (Bobby), Lindsay Purifoy, Ellen Pevoto (Ben), Mark Purifoy, Amanda Fuller, Jonathan Boatner, and Melody O’Daniel; and twelve great-grandchildren, Abby Petty, Caleb Petty, Rachel Petty, Faith Petty, Emma Hill (Dedrick), Audrey Rhyne, Nathaniel Rhyne, Lily Jones, Spencer Jones, Charley Pevoto, Lilly Purifoy and Colton Martin.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the many caregivers who have assisted Evelyn on this journey.
