Frederick Hickman Plitt was born September 17, 1923 in Alexandria, LA and passed away peacefully on January 22, 2021 in Deer Park, TX.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Jane Brooks Plitt, his sister, Mary Alice Forshee, and his brother, Louis Plitt, Jr. He is survived by his 3 sons, Fred H Plitt, Jr and wife, Teresa, Louis E Plitt, Jack E Plitt and wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Justin and Becky Parrish, Isabella and Dalton Plitt, Silver Brocato and Ryan Plitt.
Fred loved playing golf, watching sports and spending time with friends and family. He never had a bad meal, no matter how bad it might have been. He was known for having the best attitude and disposition. And is remembered for always saying…You’re just a jewel in the Nile.
He was an active member of St Mark’s Episcopal Church in Shreveport, where he served as a deacon for many years.
Fred was in the Navy during WWII and served on board the USS Altamaha from 1943-1946. After that, he received his Chemical Engineering Degree from Louisiana Tech and then went to work for Carter Oil, in Seminole, OK. He joined Frank’s Petroleum in Shreveport, LA in 1973 and later became Executive Vice President and General Manager.
Fred lived a very full and wonderful life. He will be missed by many. The family would like to thank Parson’s House Assisted Living in La Porte, TX for all the love and care they provided over the past two years.
Graveside services celebrating the Life of Fred Plitt will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Forest Park East Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave, Shreveport, LA. Rev. Dr. Rowena White will be Officiating.
