Helen Louise Hemperly Adger, 96, of Gilliam, LA passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home Chapel in Vivian, LA officiated by Rev. Gene Bryson. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, LA. There will be a time of visitation from 11-1 pm on Friday the 20th before the service.
Mrs. Adger was born September 14, 1925 in Monroe, LA and she lived in Gilliam, LA all of her adult life. She worked for 50 years as the bookkeeper for the Gilliam Gin. She was very active and involved in the community serving on many committees and events in the area. She was mayor of Gilliam for many years where she was integral in starting the Sunflower Festival, she served on the hospital board, and the I49 committee, to name a few. She had many hobbies including gardening, she enjoyed working to restore antique furniture, and she was once a member of a dance club.
Mrs. Adger was preceded in death by her husband William Ellison Adger Jr. and her sister Betty Jane Hunter. She is survived by her daughter Toni Allen and husband Jerry of Oil City, LA, her 2 grandchildren, William Scott Allen of Plano, TX, and Kathryn Kervin and husband Damon of Shreveport, LA, and 2 great grandchildren, Rex and Dane Kervin.
Pallbearers will be Andy Adger, Jack Adger, Lane Adger, Andy Yarborough, Scott Allen and Damon Kervin.
