Karen Sue Laughlin Sartini, 76, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, in Bossier City, Louisiana after an extended illness.
She was born in Lima, Ohio on December 13, 1945, to Olen Frances and Lily Meyers Laughlin. After graduating high school, she worked as a ward clerk for a local hospital. In 1975, she moved to Shreveport to be near family. Karen was introduced to the love of her life, Ray Sartini, in 1974. In 1976, they were married. She worked for AT&T for 9 years.
Karen was a member of the Red River Story Tellers. She also helped organize and serve as a vice president of Mingles, a single adult group, and was a member of the First Wesleyan Methodist church. About 9 years ago, she converted to Catholicism and truly embraced the faith with devotion. She was a great cook and baker and could plan the most elaborate and successful events.
She is predeceased by her husband Ray; her parents, and brothers Jim and Peter Laughlin.
She is survived by her sister, Sharon Noland of Benton, La; nephews, Peter (Sandra) Laughlin, Jr. of Bossier City, La, Michael (Victoria) Laughlin of St. Louis, Mo; nieces Christine Austin of Farmington Hills, Mi, Katherine (Jeff) Mahoney of Benton, La, Cheryl (Michael) Scherschel of Fallon, Nv, and Tim Laughlin of Bartlett, Tn; great nieces and nephews, Lisa Buescher, Sarah (Michael) Lopez and Marsha (Cody) Robbins of Shreveport, La, Sean Scherschel of Fallon, Nv, Connie (Jared) Burks of San Antonio, Tx, and Dawn (Evan) Dunn of Benton, La; great-great nieces and nephews Hailey and Ian Buescher, Lily, Chaplin, Jaxon, James and John Lopez, Camille, James and Charlotte Burks, Logan and Olivia Robbins and Annie and Abby Dunn.
A visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on June 12, from 5 – 7 p.m. with a rosary to follow. A Graveside service will be held at Forest Park East the following day at 11 a.m.
