Obituary

Kenneth Lynn Miles was born on March 27,1970 in Shreveport, LA to parents of James Edward Miles and Ellen Joyce Hert-Miles. He accepted Christ at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he attended for many years. He attended school at West Shreveport Elementary, Youree Drive Middle, Captain Shreve, and received his diploma from Booker T. Washington High School. After high school, he attended Southern University of Shreveport and later in life he returned to school at Bossier Parish Community College.

With a work ethic like no other, Ken began his employment ventures with his best friend, Fred Moss, at the arcade. He then began working with his Uncle Melivin Hert, becoming his “right hand man” as the Musical Director for the Southern Region of Scholarship Foundation, INC. With every employment gained, through the years, Ken always built the reputation as a leader of the team. No matter the schedule, his team knew they could count on him to be at work, get the job done, and depend on him for sound advice on and off the clock. In 2011, he found his calling at the Caddo Parish Animal Shelter. Anyone who truly knew Ken, knew this was a job meant for him. He moved up the ladder quickly and became an Animal Control Officer, or the “police officer of the animals” as he would joke. Until his passing, he remained a very active, dependable, and dedicated team member who is highly respected by everyone at the shelter. In his downtime, Ken explored and enjoyed several hobbies that included fishing, RC cars/trucks, knife throwing, building and collecting guns/rifles. On a lake with a pole or in the backyard with his gun is where you’d find him at peace the most.

Throughout his life, Ken was loved by everyone around him. He had a spirit that captivated his family and loved ones. Early in life, he was the heartbeat for his grandmother, Claudine Washington Hert; mother, Ellen Joyce Miles and sister, Yolanda Wilkins. In his younger years, he found love with his dear friend, Lakeitha Henix Miles, and was a darling father to daughter Britney Henix. Later in life, he found love yet again with his wife Kelly Miles, daughter Zayna Lynn Miles, who was his heart, along with being the co-parent of Adrianna, Christopher Jr (CJ), and Kameron Morris. Ken flourished with pride of his family, especially when he was called Paw Paw by his grandchildren; Javan Henix, Aiyden and Amora Wilson. Ken is preceded in death by his father, James Edward Miles; grandmother, Claudine Washington Hert and grandfather, Floyd Hert. He leaves to cherish his life, his wife Kelly Miles; children: Britney Henix (Arlington,TX) Aaron Miles (Oakland, CA), Zayna Lynn Miles, Adrianna Morris, Christopher Morris Jr. (CJ), and Kameron Morris; grandchildren Javan Henix, Aiyden and Amora Wilson; mother, Ellen Joyce Hert - Miles; sister, Yolanda Miles Wilkins (Juan); brother, Brandon Miles; uncles, George Hert (Little Rock, AR), Julius Hert, Melvin Hert (Tampa,FL), Donald Ray Miles; aunts, Shirley Rolle (Orlando, FL), Janette Miles, Lavern Tanner; closest friends, Fred Moss IV, Fred Grayson, Louis Jones and Sheka Lockett, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
