Marjorie Noland

December 11, 1925 ~ September 3, 2022 (age 96)

A graveside funeral service for friends and family will celebrate the life of Marjorie P. Noland Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 1:30 pm at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Avenue. Officiating will be Dr. Carl Rhoads of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport, where Marty was a long time member. After the service the family will hold a reception at Marty’s home.
Marty graduated from Byrd High School and Centenary College of Louisiana where she met her beloved husband. Early in her marriage Marty was an elementary school teacher and later in life enjoyed her time in the estate silver business. Above all else Marty was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. Our mother was one of the sweetest ladies you could ever meet.
Marty was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Monroe Porter and Nell Currie Porter; her husband of 55 years Edwin B. Noland, Jr; her sister and brother in law, Dotte Schermerhorn and Travis E. Schermerhorn. Marty is survived by her children, Ed Noland (Susan), Laura Noland Harter (Steven), Briant Noland (Ellis); her niece, Jane Cousins (Joe); her grandchildren, Eddie Noland, Sarah Noland Dabney (Andrew), Conner Noland, Jack Noland, Arden Clare Noland, Scott Harter, and Catherine Harter; her great grandchildren, Finn Dabney, and Oliver Dabney.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Marty’s caregivers Shantell Jefferson Alexander, LaToya House, Rolanda Hall, Linda Williams, Annie Yarbrough, and Marilyn Barnes for their devotion and friendship. We appreciate the dedicated care of Willis Knighton Hospice of Louisiana nurses, doctors, and chaplain.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Centenary College of Louisiana, The First United Methodist Church of Shreveport, or the charity of your choice.
