Ona Welch Hedrick left for Heaven on Sunday, October 3, 2021, in Shreveport, LA. She was born December 17, 1931, in Wisner, LA to Edith and Howard Welch.
Visitation will be held from 11:00-12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Kings Temple United Pentecostal Church, 8951 Kingston Road, Shreveport, LA 71118. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Damon Magee along with Pastor Michael Hudspeth and John Berry. Entombment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Hedrick was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene Hedrick; son, Donald Wayne Hedrick “Pete”; her parents; sisters, Lee Opitz, Ann Welch, Nell Guillory, and Shirley Swindle; brother, Harold Welch; and grandparents, Lena Allen and Harum Lod Welch and John Cagie Mac Tidwell and Maggie Kendrick Tidwell.
She is survived by her daughters, Joy Jones and husband Keith of Richmond, VA, and June Barnhill and husband Darrell of Shreveport, LA; six grandchildren, Becky Jones Maskal, Brandon Jones, April Barnhill Schnebelen, Amy Barnhill Berlin, Jill Hedrick and Jason Hedrick; 15 great grandchildren, Jessica Thornton, Tyler Thornton, Max Kennedy, Casey Jones, Alex and Harper Hedrick, Paige, Garrett and Pete Paintin, Shea Smith, Andrew, Cole and Avery Schnebelen, Gracie, Briggs and Ava Berlin; five great great grandchildren; sisters, Donna Nolan and Collis Ezell; sister-in-law, Dot Welch; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Casey Jones, Mark Welch, Max Kennedy, Tyler Thornton, Jason Hedrick and Andrew Schnebelen. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Ezell, Brandon Jones and Kimbrough Struggs.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kingston Christian Academy or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
