Funeral Services celebrating the life of Raymond H. House, 89, will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Osborn Funeral Home, 3631 Southern Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana, with a visitation from 10 am to 11 am preceding the service. Officiating will be Reverend Tom Brown. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery on St. Vincent Avenue.
Raymond was born on June 1, 1931 to Reyburn and Dollie House in the Wave Community near Carthage, Arkansas and went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 12, 2021. He was a proud Veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean war.
Raymond married Marjory Hollifield in 1957. They would have celebrated 64 years of marriage on April 11th.
He was proud of his career with the Shreveport Fire Department, attaining the rank of District Chief, retiring in 1986 after 30 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joel House; sister, Jessie Wood and infant daughter, Carol Marie House.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Marjory House; sons, Michael House and wife Brigetta, as well as his son Kevin House; daughters, Lisa McClure and husband, John; and Karen Parker. Grandchildren Alisha House; Brandon House and wife, Angela; Brian House; Lisa Schiller and husband, Chris; David McClure and wife, Christy; and Jacob McClure. Great-grandchildren, Ian House, Mason Ingram and Madison Ingram; sister, Bennie Delaney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Raymond enjoyed gardening, and he took great pride in the tomatoes he grew. He also enjoyed fishing, visiting with family and friends, and attending the ROMEO lunches with his son, Michael, and other retired firefighters. He loved his wife and family with all his heart. He was truly one-of-a-kind.
Honoring Raymond as pallbearers will be his grandsons.
